Biography

Shelby Mathews’ practice focuses on bank finance, real estate, commercial transactions, commercial leasing, and general business planning.

Shelby has worked as a real estate/business transactional attorney since she passed the Bar in 2017 and was a legal assistant in the practice area all throughout law school. She regularly assists clients in the purchase and sale of real estate and represents both borrowers and lenders on loan transactions, assisting with both asset-based and real estate secured financing. In the last year and a half, Shelby took a brief break from the real estate world to work as regulatory counsel for the National State Board of Public Accountancy where she was able to learn a new type of practice area.

Shelby is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and she previously served on the Belmont University College of LawAmerican Inn of Court.

A native of Pleasant View, Tennessee, Shelby lives in Columbia with her husband, Cody, a football coach and teacher, their two children, Scout and Quinn, and fur child, Sydney. Outside of her professional world, Shelby spends most of her time chasing her daughter around (and soon son in a few months when he starts walking), at football or baseball games or the nearest rodeo (her daughter loves horses).
