Brooks is an Associate Attorney in Thompson Burton’s Commercial Real Estate Practice Group. His practice focuses on commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and acquisition financing, with particular experience in transactions involving multifamily investors, retail properties, and homebuilder and development projects. His multifamily work includes portfolio acquisitions, tax credit partnership acquisitions, and acquisition financing transactions involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debt.

Brooks assists clients with all stages of a commercial real estate transaction, including purchase and sale agreements, due diligence, title and survey review, financing documents, entity and authority matters, closing deliverables, and coordination of the closing process. His work also includes retail acquisitions and dispositions involving triple net leased properties, including dental offices and properties leased to Starbucks, 7 Brew, Panera, and Dutch Bros. He works with clients to identify practical solutions, manage transaction timelines, and help move deals efficiently from contract to closing.

Brooks is a graduate of Belmont University College of Law. During law school, he interned with the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office Conviction Review Unit, where he assisted with exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals.

Before law school, Brooks worked as an organizer on national and statewide political campaigns across Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa, Virginia, Michigan, and Missouri.

A native of Newbern, Tennessee, Brooks lives in East Nashville with his wife, Morgan, their daughters Lenora and Betty, and two dogs, Otis and Rodham. When not at the office, Brooks can be found exploring Metro Nashville public parks, visiting Florida’s Emerald Coast, and sampling new coffees.
