I am sad to report that one of the best among us, Jeffrey Babener, passed away on March 17, 2020. He was a legend. He will be missed. Jeffrey Babener was one of the originals when it came to MLM law. Jeff was a fierce competitor, which made me like him more throughout the years. When he had a problem with something I wrote or said, he'd call. When he had a compliment to share, he'd call. He was direct, to the point. I really admired him was saddened to hear of his passing. He dropped subtle practice pointers on me throughout the years, advice that I was always grateful to receive. He was an Alpha wolf. He fought hard for our industry. He created an ocean of fantastic content on his site, mlmlegal.com. His articles were effective, garnering attention from both new and old industry participants. He was a thought leader. As an example, he really "flattened the curve" of cryptocurrency scams when he blasted that industry in 2018 here. He had an incredible pen. He knew it and he was proud of it. Jeff was an educator. He and Mike Sheffield have hosted over 100+ conferences for startups. The longevity of their conference will unlikely never be matched. Jeff was able to service the full spectrum in the industry. He worked with countless startups as well as the more established companies like Herbalife, Avon, and Amway. He could do it all and he did it for decades. Jeff cared for his team. He shopped out the prospect of selling his firm to attorneys and firms throughout the industry. His primary concern: his team. By all measures, he led a successful life. He was a husband, father, grandfather, business owner, and mentor to many. He will be missed.
